Bimeda UK is pleased to announce the launch of a new animation to help promote best practice use for Ectofly 12.5mg/ml Pour On Solution for Sheep. The product contains 12.5mg/ml cypermethrin and is licensed for the treatment and control of head flies, the treatment and prevention of blowfly strike and the treatment of ticks and biting lice.

The animation will be a useful aid for veterinary surgeons and SQPs who wish to refresh themselves on correct product usage and can also be used as a training tool for farmers.

UK General Manager, Mark Cokayne, commented, “as with all veterinary medicines, for the product to be effective it must be used correctly. Whilst all relevant usage information is included on product and applicator packaging, as well as the SPC, at Bimeda we are committed to developing useful tools which make the lives of vets, SQPs and farmers easier. This new animation contains information on important areas such as PPE, dosing applicator calibration, which nozzle to use depending on the parasite to be targeted, dosage rates, applicator maintenance and more. It is easy-to-follow, engaging to watch, and we are sure that it will prove to be a very useful tool for those involved in the UK animal health industry.”

The animation can be viewed on the Bimeda Youtube channel.

The animation focuses on best practice, such as the correct nozzle to use, which varies based upon the parasite to be targeted. Key information such as the ideal distance of the applicator from the fleece, the direction in which to apply the product, and how to avoid under-dosing are all covered in the short movie. To get the best performance it is essential that the product is used correctly.

Bimeda would welcome veterinary surgeons using this resource on their websites or on screens in their waiting rooms. An mp4 file is also available for use – for more information please contact your local Bimeda territory manager or call Bimeda on 01248 725 400.

Marketing Manager, Mary van Dijk, commented, “at Bimeda we are committed to developing tools and materials which provide vets and SQPs with the most up-to-date information on disease control and product usage, in user-friendly formats which add value. Last year we were pleased to launch our online Sheep Scab Academy, which has been started by over 200 participants and completed by over 115 to date. This year we are very pleased to provide this animation as an additional training tool, to support SQPs to increase their knowledge in the area of sheep ecto-parasite control.”
