25 June 2020, at 12:00pm

Hill’s Pet Nutrition is reminding all Veterinary nurses and Vet practices that the entry deadline for its “Pet Slimmer of the Year” competition, “Managing Weight with Excellence” competition and Hill’s Pet Nutrition “Senior Support Nurse of the Year” competition is on its way; with a chance to win up to an enticing £500 worth of Love to shop vouchers – all while improving pet’s health!

The “Senior Support Nurse of the Year” competition will be available to enter until 6 September 2020, whilst the “Pet Slimmer of the Year” and “Managing Weight with Excellence” competitions will be available to enter until 14 September 2020. Entries are only open to those from the UK and Ireland, with separate winners for both competitions and categories, as well as runners up.

Hill’s Pet Slimmer of the Year Competition 2020

The “Pet Slimmer of the Year” competition is split into two categories, Canine and Feline, and is open exclusively to Veterinary Nurses and their clients’ pets that have undergone a Veterinary Nurse supervised weight loss programme. Registrations must include photos of the pet, both before and after weight loss, along with a testimonial from the entrant and the client. All diets used to support the care of any pet entered must be Hill’s Pet Nutrition diets.

The winners of the Canine and Feline Pet Slimmer of the Year 2020 categories will receive £300 of Love to shop vouchers and the parents of the pets will receive 6 months’ worth of Hill’s Pet Nutrition food. Both runners up to each category will also receive £250 of Love to shop vouchers.

The 2019 winner of the Feline Pet Slimmer of the Year competition was Gonzo Floyd Adams who was supervised by Jane White of Abbey House Veterinary Hospital, Morley. Gonzo was struggling with his grooming, personal hygiene and mobility. Gonzo had tried many diets in the past but it was Jane who finally helped Gonzo succeed and lose 19 percent of his total bodyweight. His owners were so pleased with the results – “We loved going to see Jane! We decided to put him on Hill’s Wet and Dry Metabolic food. WOW! What a difference that made. Within a few weeks he’d lost more weight and he loved the food. Over the next few months he lost weight at the right speed; I was so proud of him.”

The most successful winner of the Canine Pet Slimmer of the Year competition was slimmed by Lisa Bellas of Victoria Vets, Chapel-en-le-Frith. Chester Ryan lost 35 percent of his total bodyweight and his owners were thrilled. They stated how proud they are of Chester and “can't believe the change in him – it's all thanks to Lisa at Victoria Vets and Hill’s for the food.”

Hill’s Managing Weight with Excellence Competition 2020

The “Managing Weight with Excellence” competition is open exclusively to Veterinary Nurses or Veterinary Practices. Entrants must submit details of three case studies where they have managed pets’ weight within their clinic. Entries should include client testimonials, along with any other evidence to support their case studies. All diets used to support the care of any pet entered must be Hill’s Pet Nutrition diets.

Now for the prizes – the nurse or practice winner of the Managing Weight with Excellence competition 2020 will be awarded £500 of Love to shop vouchers. Two runners up will also be selected for this competition and will receive £250 of Love to shop vouchers.

The 2019 Hill’s Managing Weight with Excellence Winner was Amy Hood of White Cross Vets, Middlesbrough. Amy was nominated as a super passionate nurse who used every tool at her disposal to support owners and, along with the typical written plan, Amy would add her own rewards and incentives.

Hill’s Senior Support Nurse of the Year Competition 2020

The “Senior Support Nurse of the Year” competition is open exclusively to Veterinary Nurses or Veterinary Practices. Entrants must submit details of three case studies where they have played a significant role in the care of a senior cat or dog in their practice. Entries should include client testimonials, along with any other evidence to support their case studies. All diets used to support the care of any pet entered must be Hill’s Pet Nutrition diets.

A prize of £500 Love to shop vouchers will be gifted to the nurse or practice winner of the Senior Support Nurse of the Year competition 2020. £250 worth of Love to shop vouchers will also be rewarded to the two runners up of this category.

The 2019 Hill’s Senior Support Nurse Winner was Danielle Doughty of The Vet, Bristol. The client and colleague testimonials that supported Danielle’s entry clearly demonstrated both the way Danielle was changing pets lives and also inspiring her veterinary practice colleagues. Colleagues had been encouraged to think about how they could ensure the very best care for senior pets visiting the practice – be that for hospitalisation or simply visiting Danielle’s senior support consults.

Hill’s is looking to show appreciation for that special nurse or practice nursing team who go to the extra mile to support their pets and their owners on their weight loss journey.

All finalists will be invited to the BVNA Congress in October where the winners will be announced. This includes Saturday admission, accommodation and gala dinner entry.
